7 Luxury Hotel Brands Taking to the Sea

luxury hotels at sea

The future of luxury hospitality is leaving the lobby behind. From Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton to Aman and Orient Express, some of the world’s most recognizable luxury hotel brands are bringing five-star service to the water.

For decades, luxury travel meant checking into an iconic hotel or private resort. In 2026, that definition is expanding. A growing collection of luxury hotel brands at sea is launching yachts, sailing ships and intimate river vessels that combine the service of a five-star hotel with the freedom of traveling by water.

These luxury hotel yachts are not simply traditional cruise ships with more expensive suites. They are designed to translate the service, design, dining and sense of exclusivity associated with leading hospitality brands into a new kind of experience at sea.

Here are seven luxury hospitality brands taking their signature experiences to the water.

1. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Ritz-Carlton helped establish the modern luxury hotel yacht category with the launch of Evrima in 2022. Today, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection includes Evrima, Ilma and Luminara, bringing the brand’s signature hospitality to destinations across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, Alaska and beyond.

The all-suite yachts feature private terraces, elevated dining, spa experiences and marina-style access to the water, creating an experience designed to feel closer to a luxury resort at sea than a conventional cruise ship.

2. Four Seasons Yachts

Four Seasons officially entered the category in 2026 with the maiden voyage of Four Seasons I. Designed to feel more like a private superyacht than a traditional cruise ship, the vessel translates the brand’s hospitality into an intimate experience centered around personalized service, culinary programming, wellness and residential-style spaces.

The arrival of Four Seasons Yachts also marks one of the most significant moves yet by a major luxury hotel company into ocean travel.

3. Aman at Sea

Aman is bringing its famously secluded approach to hospitality offshore. Aman at Sea will debut Amangati in 2027, a 47-suite luxury motor yacht designed around privacy, space and personalized service.

Its first season will explore the Mediterranean before expanding to additional destinations. Aman also already operates Amandira, an intimate traditional sailing vessel in Indonesia, giving the hospitality brand an established connection to luxury travel on the water.

4. Orient Express Sailing Yachts

Orient Express has transformed its legendary approach to travel from rails to sails. The 220-meter Orient Express Corinthian began sailing in 2026 with just 54 suites, combining French craftsmanship, fine dining and the romance of wind-powered exploration.

Sister yacht Orient Express Olympian is scheduled to follow in 2027, further expanding the brand’s move into luxury yacht travel.

5. Belmond

Belmond’s luxury hospitality empire has long extended beyond hotels and trains. Its collection of intimate river boats offers another interpretation of the floating-hotel concept.

In France, Les Bateaux Belmond operates private barges across regions including Burgundy, Provence, Champagne and Bordeaux. New vessel Marguerite joins the Burgundy fleet in late summer 2026, continuing Belmond’s approach to slow, immersive travel.

6. Oberoi Hotels & Resorts

Oberoi brings its five-star hospitality to one of the world’s most historic waterways aboard The Oberoi Zahra. The luxury Nile cruiser pairs elegant accommodations, fine dining and spa experiences with curated excursions through Egypt, including journeys between Luxor and Aswan.

Rather than creating a traditional ocean-going hotel-branded yacht, Oberoi offers its interpretation of luxury hospitality at sea through a more intimate river journey.

7. Borgo Santo Pietro

Tuscan luxury hotel Borgo Santo Pietro takes a decidedly more intimate approach with Satori, its 41.5-meter sailing yacht.

Accommodating only 10 guests across five cabins, the vessel translates the hotel’s emphasis on design, gastronomy and slow living into private journeys around destinations including the Italian coast, Corsica and the Greek islands.

The Future of Luxury Travel Is Floating

The rise of luxury hotel-branded yachts signals a larger shift in hospitality. Travelers increasingly want privacy, personalization and access—not simply another hotel room.

For brands like Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Aman and Orient Express, the ocean is becoming the next frontier of luxury travel at sea.

The luxury hotel of the future may not have an address at all.

It may have a port of call.
